Interested in chartering / renting a ship for you and your party? Click here! Fish Catalina Island, San Clemente Island, and many other exotic locations on our open party overnight trips aboard the Thunderbird. Hundreds of gamefish are commonly caught including giant yellowtail to over forty pounds, white sea bass to over sixty pounds, yellowfin tuna, albacore tuna, bluefin tuna, dorado, and many other varieties of game fish. Trips typically depart at 9 pm traveling to offshore destinations during the night and arriving before first light, then fishing most of the day and returning around 6:30 pm that evening. Advantages of overnight fishing include fishing locations that receive little fishing pressure, more fishing time including times during peak morning and afternoon hours, and a huge selection of fishing areas to choose from.
The Thunderbird is equipped with the latest in fishing electronics and also has a full kitchen and spacious sleeping quarters. Large bait tanks capable of holding 40 scoops or thousands of bait fish or live squid enables the Thunderbird to provide chum and hook baits long after smaller boats have run out of bait.
Captain Jeff Markland skippers the Thunderbird and brings years of experience and passion for sportfishing. In fact Captain Jeff has such a passion for sportfishing that you will often find him fishing for fun on his days off. He understands ocean conditions, numerous fishing locations, and under what conditions they bite the best, and how to best fish these areas by positioning the ship into the ideal position. If a fun and exciting trip is what you are looking for the Thunderbird and crew will not disappoint.
