Did you know there are 38 different species of oceanic dolphins? We don’t often think of the ocean of having different habitats but indeed it does! Some species of dolphins inhabit coastal areas, while others thrive in the open ocean! There is also a variation of diet among each species of dolphin ranging from the squid-eating Risso’s dolphin to the salmon-eating resident orca. The diversity of dolphin species is truly amazing! How many species have you seen?

Going down! When blue whales dive they accelerate forward during their last breath. They then tip their nose down and passively glide downward. Blue whales will remain on a dive anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes as they hunt for patches of krill.
